The World Is Flat
Who does not know this silly verse:
" Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother 40 whacks.
And when she saw what she had done,
She gave her father 41."
We have all heard it at one time or another, yet did you know that Lizzie
Borden, 1860-1927, was a Sunday school teacher. Did you know that she was
acquitted of the murder charge too? Did you also know that Adolf Hitler was
not a Sunday school teacher. Did you know that Adolf committed suicide in
order to avoid being charged with the most atrocious murders, and immoral
acts against humanity, in the history of mankind? Why then doesn't Adolf
have a poem?
Adolf Hitler took an axe
and cut the world up to the max
and when he saw that he was done
he tried to kill us, one by one
Yes, if any one deserves a poem it is Adolf, right! Yet the public is
happy punishing innocent Sunday school teachers who have the unlucky hobby
of chopping wood on the weekend. Some one should write a poem about the injustice
and ignorance of public opinion. Something like this perhaps:
public opinion took a fax
and read it backwards and zig-zag-zak
and when they saw the obvious fact
there was no more doubt that the world is flat
